Visit to Claymills Victorian Pumping Station

It is located near Burton on Trent & the postcode is DE13 0DB.
John Freeman (who in his spare time is a volunteer at Claymills) is hosting two tours for SPS members on on Saturday 20 July and Saturday 17 August. Please sign up by 11 July.
On each day, John will run a tour, including the backstage areas, starting at 1100, and then people will be free to come and go across the site as they wish during the rest of the day. These are non-steaming days, so will be fairly quiet with volunteers working across the site on maintenance and repair. The next steaming days are 25 and 26 August – well worth coming but a bit busier. 20 July also has a model train exhibition on site.
If you want to visit but can’t make these dates, John is usually there on Thursdays and sometimes on Saturdays but just have a chat with him in advance to confirm. For the week prior to steaming (Tuesday 22 to Saturday 24 August) the site will be open and John will be there, as the boilers need warming up over several days.
Entrance is free on non-steaming days (but donations very welcome – Claymills is a charity) and £6.50 on steaming days (to help pay for the coal!).
