This is our outline program for a series of photographic outings and visits planned for society members for 2026. These events are ‘members only’. If you are not a member and interested in taking part in a visit the club is very welcoming to photographers of all abilities. Information about membership can be found on other pages on the website
At the moment some of the planned outings are provisional so please check on the right hand text box for up to date information.
The Outings Programme for this year is under development with an aim of arranging a monthly visit of photographic interest to all members, from the more advanced photographers to those who are at the start of their photographic journey. As with all club activities the success depends on two things: the willingness of members to arrange a visit, and just as importantly, the support of members in coming along to the activities.
One of the benefits of group outings is the opportunity to get know other members and share as well as gain knowledge and experience.
Hopefully some of the activities from previous years can be repeated, and I will be approaching previous ‘leaders’ to see if they are prepared to lead an outing (or 2?) this year. New areas which could be developed include Astrophotography, possibly around March, April, September and October. These are times when darkness falls relatively early and its not too cold temperature-wise.
Hopefully most visits will end at a pub or cafe for some refreshments.
Outings Calendar for 2026
Saturday 13th June
On Saturday (10am) there is a members outing to visit the Red House Glass Cone, as described at Thursday’s meeting. As well as opportunities to photograph in and around the glass cone the is also the chance to capture canal scenes. The weather forecast is reasonable and a few members have already ‘signed up’ for the outing. Meet at the car park beside the glass cone, off Bridge Street at 10 am. Duration: around an hour with a finish at the on-site cafe, Heavenly Baking, for refreshments.
Monday 13th July
John Freeman is leading a morning visit to the campus of Birmingham University to give an opportunity to photograph architecture from Victorian to modern. Meet up at Stourbridge Junction for transport by train to the university. Undergraduate students will have ‘gone down’ so the campus will be relatively quiet and there will be a choice of refreshment venues! More details to follow>
